Pensioner robbed, beaten by bandits

A SIXTY-SEVEN-year-old pensioner of Huis ‘T’ Dieren, Essequibo Coast was, on Saturday, awaken by two armed bandits, who broke into his house at approximately 3:00 hours, choked him and escaped with a number of his valuables.

A police report noted that the elderly man secured his premises and retired to bed at approximately 19:00 hours on Friday; he parked his red and black XR motorcycle in his kitchen area and left a hand bag with $300,000 cash on a chair.

At approximately 3:00 hours, the victim was awakened by someone choking him and felt the presence of a knife at his neck; the bandits also tied the man’s hands with a wire and cuffed him several times to his abdomen.

The suspects then placed the victim to sit on his bed where they relieved him of his Casio wristwatch valued at $3,500 and ransacked his home for more than half an hour in search of valuables.

They collected his cell-phone valued at $32,000; the bag with the money and his motorcycle bearing registration number CK 8430.

After the ordeal, the victim jumped his fence and was untied by his neighbour who took him to the Suddie Hospital, where he was treated and sent away.
