PRESIDENT of the Guyana Body Building and Fitness Federation (GBBFF), Keavon Bess, has said Guyana’s bid document to host the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championship has been prepared and will be presented at this year’s Championships in El Salvador which starts on August 12. GBBFF president Keavon Bess made this disclosure on Thursday at a press conference to announce Guyana Olympic Association’s support for the eight-member team and two officials who will attend the championship. According to Bess, “The bid has been prepared and it has been handed over to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. Guyana’s intention to bid has already been brought to the attention of the president of the Central American and Caribbean Body Building and Fitness Federations (CACBBFF)” Bess, who also sits on the CACBBFF as their legal officer, said it is over to him to make the pitch when he attends the congress on August 13 but he is confident the bid document is a good one that will encourage a positive outcome for Guyana. He had indicated that Guyana has all the necessary facilities in place and by 2023 he expects the hotel industry would grow to accommodate possibly in excess of 500 athletes. The economic impact of the event has excited the local body about the need to host the championship since athletes and their team officials are the ones who stand the costs to attend. The host federation’s main expenditure would be for the CAC officials, Secretariat and a big banquet for all athletes and officials at the end of the competition.
