FORMER US U19 cricketer Randall Wilson produced a patient knock, while Robin Rooplall got four wickets in an over to ensure that New York XI won their low-scoring battle against King’smen Cricket Club, when action in the New York National Cricket League 30 overs Saturday Tournament continued over the weekend.
The Guyanese-born Randall scored 48 (2X4s) from 66 balls to stabilise the middle of the innings, after New York XI lost a few quick wickets.
Support came from Keeran Krishna (27 from 39 balls) towards the end as the eventual winners were able to post 153-6 from their allotted overs.
In reply, King’smen XX also lost a few early wickets, before Carlon Whyte came in at five. Although he was flamboyant with his stroke play, with a match-high 65 from 63 balls (5X4s, 6X6s), he had little support.
DESTRUCTION
Andre Lindsay had the second most runs with 10, but the middle-order batsman and the tail were all routed by the off-spin of Robin Rooplall. The US-based Guyana finished with four wickets, including a hat-trick in over number 25. He had Lindsay caught by Randall, while he bowl and caught Oliver Buckle for 0, before he bowled Kadeem Simms (0) and bowl and caught Mahfouz Ali (0) to end King’smen CC’s innings for 117. Fellow Guyanese Salim Satar and Telson Johnson supported with two wickets each.
