The alleged drunk driver who struck down a police sergeant on the Peter’s Hall Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and left him hospitalised, was, on Monday arraigned before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court.
Abdool Safraz Nazir was charged for failing to stop after an accident, failing to render assistance to officer Rajendra Major and driving while he was under the influence of alcohol. The offences were allegedly committed on July 13, 2021.
Nazir pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted a total of $60,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned until August 16, 2021.
