A 27-year-old miner was, on Friday, remanded to prison for the murder of his workmate, who was fatally stabbed during an argument at Ithaki Backdam, Mazaruni River.
Kevin Lindore of 2 & 1/2 Miles Bartica appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the capital offence.
Particulars of the charge alleged that, on July 11, at Ithaki Backdam, Mazaruni River, Lindore murdered Damion Williams called “Wild Buck.”
Lindore was remanded to prison until August 6.
According to reports, Lindore and Williams worked together at a mining camp. It is alleged that, on the day in question the two men had a disagreement over the way Lindore was treating a female employee who worked as a cook at the said camp.
The disagreement resulted in a fight between the men, and Lindore pulled out a knife and stabbed Williams to his neck. Williams fell to the ground and became motionless.
He was escorted to Bartica Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor. Lindore was arrested and charged for the offence.
