More rains expected in July

PROVIDING an update on Tuesday, Chief Hydromet Officer, Dr. Garvin Cummings, said that persistent rainfall can be expected for the month of July; however, the weather conditions are expected to improve in the months of August, September and October.
“For the month of June, we would have had just about normal rainfall. The forecast at this time is indicating that for the month of July we will continue to see wetter than usual conditions…with the exception of regions One, Two and Three, other regions will see wetter than usual conditions,” Dr. Cummings related.
He added: “As we move into August, September we find that conditions will return to the normal dryness that is expected for those months. So, August, September and October, we expect that the conditions will be dry as usual.” Dr. Cummings said that the month of July is concerning, but is confident that, based on the available forecast, things will return to normal after the month has passed. “The month of major concern is really July. Once we get past July, we expect the conditions will return to some degree of normalcy,” he related
