THE Central Housing & Planning Authority (CH&PA) and the Ministry of Housing and Water, on Friday last, presented 30 street lamps to the community of Lima Sands in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
The presentation was done during the ministry’s massive housing drive in the Town of Anna Regina. During a previous community housing outreach in Lima Sands, residents had requested the street lights for the usually dark roadway.
Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, said the ministry immediately acted on the request and he was pleased that the CH&PA was able to fulfil the promise in a short space of time. Croal said the ministry will work assiduously to ensure that communities have the necessary amenities.
Meanwhile, Region Two Chairperson, Vilma De Silva, said she was pleased that the request was fulfilled, noting that Lima Sands was a fast-developing community and the lights were much needed.
Additionally, Head of the CDC group in Lima Sands, Patrick Mahase, expressed gratitude to the relevant authorities; he said that the community was surrounded by dense forest and in the nights, it is extremely dark. He pointed out that there were many robberies in the past but he was hopeful that the lights would aid in the reduction of crime.
