Region Four Health Dep’t connected to over 10,000 COVID-19 patients

— GTT continues mobile plan support

GTT has extended its provision of a complimentary mobile plan to support the Region Four Health Department as essential workers there continue their efforts to remain connected to COVID-19 patients.
According to a media release, the plans that consist of 30 days unlimited calling to patients with GTT numbers, 200 minutes to make contact with patients on the other network and 3 GB of data to facilitate WhatsApp calling has allowed the department to connect with over 10,000 COVID-19 patients over the past six months.
GTT’s Marketing and Communications Manager Nicola Balram, said the company continues to live up to its promise to strengthen its community. Its support to the department is steadfast as everyone works together to flatten the curve of the novel coronavirus in Guyana.

“Since the start of COVID-19 in Guyana, GTT has committed its support to frontline workers. This is just one of the ways we continue to lend our support to the fight against COVID-19,” Balram said.
Noting that the mobile-plan support has been of great aid to the department, Regional Health Officer (RHO), Dr. Gavin Nash Persaud commended the telecommunications company for its dedication over the past months.
“It was a really great initiative to provide support in this regard and we remain grateful to the company for its commitment in making our jobs easier during this pandemic,” Dr. Persaud said.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic reached Guyana, GTT has made a range of donations to the health care sector, including a Ministry of Health toll-free COVID-19 hotline, free mobile services for doctors and nurses, stipends to COVID-19 hotline volunteers, data SIMs to connect COVID+ mothers to their newborns through technology to name a few.

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company is a fixed Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) based in Guyana, South America. It is the largest provider of telecommunication services in Guyana with a subscriber base exceeding 300,000 in a country with an average population of 700,000.
