THE Embassy of France in Suriname announced a shipment of a large donation to Guyana, considering the recent floods and the state of emergency claimed for a large part of the country.
The relief was facilitated by the French Regional Intervention Platform for the Americas and the Caribbean, part of the French Red Cross.

The cargo, loaded on the French military vessel, Dumont d’Urville, consisting of 9.45 tons (a volume of 35m³) contains various items to bring first aid and relief for the affected population.
The embassy noted that the vessel will sail from Martinique to Guyana and is expected to arrive in Guyana at the weekend.

“Because of the valued relationship between the two nations and in honour of fraternity and friendship between France and Guyana, the donation of this humanitarian aid is essential, and the relations established between the French Red Cross and the Guyana Red Cross will ensure swift distribution to those in need,” the embassy noted.

France remains in solidarity with its trusted partners and continues to work on the various forms of co-operation.
