HARRINAND Persaud, the Chief Financial & Marketing Officer of well known businesses such as King’s Hotel and Residences, King’s Jewellery World, and Bistro Cafe and Bar, has been elected the new President of the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG).
Persaud, who also holds senior positions at King’s Duty-Free, Lehr Incorporated and Starr Computers, was elected on Friday last, when THAG hosted its 27th and 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM). Delivering remarks at the virtual forum, Persaud said that he is honoured and privileged to serve at the helm of the prestigious body, expressing gratitude to THAG’s outgoing team – Immediate Past President, Mitra Ramkumar, along with former Executive Director, Treina Butts and former Executive Officer, Oslyn Martindale, who he said, have all worked tirelessly over the years. It has been said that even amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Guyana is poised to remain a leading tourist destination and attraction. To this end, Persaud appealed to members to prepare themselves for the boom, while staying safe. With a mass vaccination programme in place, THAG believes that a full recovery of the tourism industry is imminent, as is evident in other countries.

“We will continue to follow the safe practice guidelines, and gradually, herd immunity will be achieved,” Persaud said.
The marketing official endeavours to work closely with the executives, directors, and members of THAG.
“We will continue to work closely on projects and partnerships already established,” Persaud noted, adding that he will share detailed plans in subsequent engagements.
Meanwhile, Ramkumar, who is the Chief Financial Officer of Roraima Airways Incorporated, has committed to providing continued guidance to the newly elected president and his team.
The AGM also saw the election of THAG’s new Executive, which now comprises Vice President, Kenneth Shivdyal, who is the Destination Development Manager of Wilderness Explorers; and Treasurer, Camille Boodhoo, the Managing Director of Old Fort Tours and Angellina’s Travel Service.
THAG’s new Committee Members are Eduardo Reple, General Manager of the Guyana Marriott Hotel, Georgetown; Dane Gobin, Chief Executive Officer of Iwokrama; Zena Bone, Owner of Adel’s Rainforest Resort and Victor Pires, the Managing Director of Bullseye Investments.
Further, the association’s membership has re-appointed Ram & McRae as its auditors for the new financial year.
