AYADELE Gray, a labourer of Henrietta, Region Two, was, on Tuesday, slapped with a murder charge following the death of Kurt Elvis Stephney. The 43-year-old man made his first appearance before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the indictable charge. He was subsequently remanded to prison until June 15, 2021. It is alleged that, on May 6, 2021, at Henrietta, he allegedly murdered Stephney. The court heard that, in self-defence, he took a piece of wood and lashed Stephney to his head during a heated argument at a popular snackette on the public road. The two were arguing about a pack of biscuits. The 24-year-old man was rushed to Suddie Public Hospital in an unconscious state and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he died several days later. The autopsy performed by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, revealed that he died as a result of a fractured skull.
