A MAN, who is accused of raping an 11-year-old girl, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was placed on $200,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was ordered to return to court on May 7, 2021. The charge states that Stephen Gordon, on December 29, 2020, at West La Penitence, Georgetown, engaged in sexual penetration with the child. According to the prosecution, on the day in question, the child disappeared after being sent on an errand by her mother. The following day, the mother was informed that the child was found. After receiving the news, the woman immediately proceeded to the location and during questioning, the child disclosed that she had spent the night at Gordon’s house. The matter was reported to the police and an investigation was launched.
