Mon Repos businessman, friend robbed of jewellery, cash

POLICE are on the hunt for three suspected bandits who robbed two men of their valuables at Mon Repos, East Coast of Demerara (ECD), on Sunday night.
The suspected mastermind of the crime is currently in police custody at the Beterverwagting Police Station, on the ECD.
Reports are that Rameez Mohamed, a businessman, and his friend, Ryan Singh, were imbibing with other colleagues at School Road around 20:30 hours, when the suspected gunmen approached them.

Police said that one of the friends, upon seeing the men, said “watch them man” and subsequently sprinted away, while the others followed.
While Mohamed was running he fell to the ground and two of the suspected bandits used the opportunity to relieve him allegedly of one Samsung A71 valued at $50,000; one Samsung J8 valued at $40,000; one gold ring valued at $300,000; a gold chain valued at $250,000 and $175,000 cash.

Police said too that Singh was attacked with a gun by one of the perpetrators, causing him to lose consciousness. He was subsequently relieved allegedly of one Samsung S21 valued at $50,000, and $25,000 in cash.

The suspected bandits, after the ordeal, made good their escape on separate bicycles.
