“Get ready to witness the shocking story that transformed Bombay to Mumbai,” lead actor John Abraham posted on his Instagram lately, with another post that said: “Witness the story of men who changed Bombay to Mumbai….forever!”
In cinemas from today onward, Mumbai Saga is an Indian Hindi-language action crime film directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by T-Series.
It also stars Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Gulshan Grover, Kajal Aggarwal, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Prateik Babbar, Samir Soni, and Amole Gupte.

Set in the 1980s and 1990s, the film with John as a gangster called Amartya Rao and Emraan as Inspector Vijay Savarkar, shows how people closed mills in Mumbai to make malls and other high rise buildings.
“When Bombay wasn’t Mumbai, and violence ruled the streets…The one who wants to rule at all costs versus the one who wants to stop him, no matter what,” John further teased on Instagram.
According to an article in the Indian Express, John also stars in Satyameva Jayate 2 and Attack, both action dramas scheduled to be released in cinema halls. While Satyameva Jayate 2 will clash with Salman Khan’s Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai on the Eid holiday, Attack will open on India’s Independence Day weekend.

This year, according to Indian Express, John will also be seen in a cameo in Sardar Ka Grandson, slated to be released on the streamer Netflix. Starring Arjun Kapoor, Neena Gupta, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead, the film is a joint production of John’s JA Entertainment, Emmay Entertainment and T-Series.
John made his Bollywood debut with Jism in 2013, which earned him the Filmfare Best Debut Award nomination. This was followed by his first commercial success, Dhoom in 2004. He received two Filmfare Award nominations, for his negative roles in Dhoom, and in Zinda. Since then, Abraham has starred in many critically and commercially successful films.
The actor, who has played grey roles in movies like Shootout at Wadala and Race 2, said he enjoys playing the anti-hero. John is also best known for action entertainers like Dhoom, Madras Cafe, Satyameva Jayate and Batla House.
