Motorcyclist accused of firearm-related offences granted bail

A MOTORCYCLIST who was allegedly found with an illegal gun and several matching rounds of ammunition when he was stopped and searched, was on Monday granted $200,000 bail by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs- Marcus when he made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Roy Millington, of Hadfield Street, Lodge, denied the charges that were laid against him.

Millington denied that he, on March 13, 2021, at Ruimveldt Public Road, Georgetown, had in his possession a firearm, specifically a .38 revolver special firearm, when he was not the holder of a firearm licence at the time. He also allegedly had in his possession three rounds of .38 ammunition.

It is alleged that Millington, on the day in question at about 11:20 hours, was riding south along the Ruimveldt Public Road on a motor scooter CF4860, when he was stopped and searched by a police rank who was on patrol duty at the time. During the search, the items listed in the charge were allegedly found in his pants crotch. Millington was told of the allegation, cautioned, and later charged.
He was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 bail on each charge, while the matter has been adjourned until March 26.
