MODFIN positive contribution

WE are celebrating Women’s History Month and it feels great to be celebrating other women. I celebrate women and life all year, but it feels extra special during this month.  I am inviting you to join me to celebrate Marcia Trotz. This young lady reminds me of her mom Monica Trotz, who is the founder of Modern Fashion and Finishing school (MODFIN), which was established in 1989 by Mrs. Trotz who is passionate about nurturing and grooming young girls into ladies and young boys into gentlemen. Modfin Salon hosted many exciting hair and fashion shows. Classic Ecentral Modelling Agency was under the Modfin brand and produced some of the top models in that era.

The beauty industry certainly missed Monica when she migrated to the United States because she was very proactive. Monica was a great mentor to her daughter Marcia whom she groomed to follow in her footsteps and become the manager of Modfin. Marcia now has over 25 years experience and always wanted to make a significant contribution to society.  “[With] God by my side I can do anything I put my mind to. Modfin Salon and Beauty School continues working second generation; I say to myself I must continue my mom’s legacy to train and enhance young people.
[“In]2014 I signed a contract with the government training institute to train and skill young single parents. I am a single parent. I understand working and providing for your children alone without a husband to help, so I enjoyed my single parents training programme then to present,” Marcia said.

In 2018, she  decided to diversify Modfin Beauty Salon and add Spa name,(Modfin full service salon / spa & beauty school )  1 have visited many times and the massages are excellent. She is now training a batch of young males and females to master this craft and they are doing exceptionally well. She recommended one of her students to provide the massage service and needed my feedback. I was so impressed with the way the young man handled himself. Martin’s mannerisms and massage skills were superb. I met him a month ago when Marcia invited me to chat with her students about confidence and how important the mindset is.

I asked him then how he was enjoying the course. “This programme is making a difference in my life and Ms Marcia is a good teacher. I am always willing to learn something new and meet new people. I am enjoying the interaction with the others and it feels like a family. I love messaging [SIC] very much from years ago and that was influenced by my father,“ Martin Giddings said.   The students seem very excited to be given the opportunity to have a career to enhance their life chances
I asked Marcia about the future of Modfin, especially in these challenging times.

“I was motivated by God and my mom because born into the beauty industry, I am continuing my mom’s legacy. My main objective is to be a passionate, ambitious, driven, highly organised, people person. I am a natural who always gives excellent results [and will] continue in being a role model, showing my students how to make sense of the world.  Most of my students are not employed, so I open doors of opportunity. After training, I always tell my students, they are managers. “I train them to Realise Who you are? Find what you are passionate about; I do self-assessment on my students to find their strength and weakness [sic], and I work on the areas they are mostly excelling most [sic]. They have to work and stay focused. I changed up my training skills from cosmetology school to beauty and finishing school; my school curriculum is mostly personal grooming skills & spa courses included different types of spa services. The beauty industry around the world is changing every year, most people need spa services than salon services, because people need to feel relaxed. So now I focus mostly on spa trends.

“For my future,  I envision for the beauty industry is to continue in my growth, continue to engage and motivate young people by giving them something to engage in. My most important future goal is to attract and retain customers and students. I love to make my own home remedies [and] products now. During this pandemic there is a dramatic change in the future industry, I just have to wait and see where the world growth [is] leading; I must always be ready to go with the flow, always fit in because I am born to win. With God’s help I am always sitting with royalty. Thank you Miss Sonia Noel for inspiring and motivated [sic] me to keep climbing higher and my parents for always supporting me.”

She is also helping young women like Toshanna Henry to climb and her testimonials indicated that. “Ms Marcia is a good teacher and [is] patient with me.  These classes are great for me because they are helping me to grow.  I always wanted to learn the techniques in massaging and this programme is exposing me to much more. I am learning to do facials, manicure and pedicure and I am grateful.

Let’s continue to support women like Marcia Trotz as we continue to celebrate this beautiful journey BEYOND THE RUNWAY.
