POLICE Commander of Region Three, Senior Superintendent Errol Watts received his COVID-19 vaccine at the West Demerara Regional Hospital on Thursday.
The commander told this publication that the vaccine represents “hope, healing, a restoration of public health and safety, and is a step in the right direction”.
The goal of public health, he said, is for people to do the right things to care for each other.
“In the same way we are saying wear masks for others, we are also getting vaccinated for others; helping each other is going to get us across the finish line,” the commander noted.One year after recording its first confirmed COVID-19 case, Guyana now has a total of 8,929 cases, with the most recent numbers showing a spike in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica).
Additionally, the number of fatalities rose to 205 on Tuesday, following the death of a 59-year-old man from the said Region Four while receiving treatment at a medical facility.
