Guyana records 206th COVID-19 death

THE number of COVID-19 fatalities in Guyana is now 206, following the death of a 39-year-old woman from Region Ten at a Ministry of Health facility. This is the ninth such death for the month of March.
The Ministry of Health has recorded an additional 76 cases from 853 tests conducted for March 10. One of these tests was recorded in Region One; two in Region Two; eight in Region Three; 46 in Region Four; eight in Region Five; one in Region Seven; seven in Region Nine, and three in Region Ten.
No other regions recorded new cases. The announcement of 25 recoveries recorded within the past 24 hours was also made. Region Four continues to account for the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases.
Six persons are currently convalescing within the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 30 remain institutionally isolated; 562 are isolated at home, and 12 persons are institutionally quarantined.

Guyana has confirmed a total of 9,069 cases since the arrival of COVID-19 here, 610 of which are currently active.
All Guyanese are being urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving home, the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
