A STERLING all-round performance by the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force saw them surge to an emphatic 9-wicket win over Leewards Hurricanes in last evening’s battle.
The Trinidadians continued to flex their muscles and tap into their wide array of options in both departments, completing a relatively simple task of maintaining their unbeaten run and keeping the top two spots interesting with Guyana Jaguars looking to secure a win today and possibly reclaim their number one spot.
Veteran fast bowler Ravi Rampaul snared a miserly 3-17 with equal support coming from the wizard Sunil Narine who bagged 3-36 and veteran spinner Imran Khan (2-16) were the primary reasons for the Hurricanes being kept to a paltry 129 all out in 46.1 overs.

Leewards’ batting approach first turned out to be dismal in the end, as opener Kieran Powell (29), Nitish Kumar (24) and leg-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr (26) finished as the primary scorers.
In the end, some tempered batting from opener Kjorn Ottley who missed out on a fifty, ended on 47 not out while middle-order batsman Jason Mohammed finished on 40* as the Twin Island franchise cruised to 130-1 inside 25 overs.
Ottley was classy during the chase, punching five fours and a 6 before losing his partner Evin Lewis who was dismissed by lone wicket-taker, Quinton Boatswain (1-34); for 27-ball 28 (3×4, 2×6).
The in-form Mohamed came to the middle and immediately picked up from where he left off in previous games, finding the ropes on 5 occasions.
Both players held their nerves and eventually saw Red Force over the finish line with an abundance of wickets and overs left in the tank. (Clifton Ross)
