COME Tuesday, Justice Navindra Singh is expected to sum up the evidence in the trial of 64-year-old Les Charles Critchlow, who, it is alleged, murdered his brother-in-law in 2016.
Critchlow pleaded not guilty to murdering Terrence Adams, called “Uncle Terry” or “Sleepy” on May 12, 2016, at Haslington, East Coast Demerara. The trial is being conducted at the Demerara High Court.
The accused is being represented by Attorney-at-law Racheal Bakker, while prosecutor Tiffani Lyken Baig entered an appearance on behalf of the State.
According to reports Adams, 56, of North Haslington, was found around 20:15 hours on the day in question on the roadway in the village with stab wounds about his body.
Adams had been stabbed to the left and right side chest, and his neck was partially slashed. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to reports, Adams had made a derogatory remark to Critchlow, and a subsequent altercation turned deadly.
Adams had reportedly said, “You don’t even wuk no more, and can’t maintain my sister.” Critchlow reportedly became outraged and stabbed him repeatedly.
