… Left-hander tests positive for COVId-19

WICKETKEEPER/batsman Kemol Savory will have a second chance to solidify his national career after being named as Trevon Griffith’s replacement, following the opener testing positive for COVID-19. According to reliable sources Griffith, who was named in the original team last week, will now focus on recovering after he returned a positive result following the Jaguars first set of COVID-19 tests.

Kemol Savory

As for Savory, the left-hander made his debut last season with a match-winning half-century, accompanied by some decent glove-work. But with Anthony Bramble always a first choice in the team and a senior run-scorer over the years, Savory found himself out of the senior mix but always the team’s second-choice keeper.

Now with Griffith out, it’s likely that Savory could be asked to open the batting or fall somewhere in the batting order. Speaking with Chronicle Sport exclusively, the batman said he was happy to have this second chance at resurrecting his career while wishing his teammate a speedy recovery.
“This has been a blessing for me to be called back. For me, I’m looking forward to this because I am looking to build on my past performances as well as becoming a reliable member of the team,” said Savory.
Savory continued, “I want to be the go-to guy that guys will know when our backs are to the ropes. I plan to always do my best. Also I am especially grateful to the coaches, selectors and all the persons who make these difficult decisions,” he ended. (Clifton Ross)
