Youth shot three times after leaving popular night spot

A TWENTY-TWO-year-old labourer of East La Penitence, Georgetown is nursing three gunshot wounds after he escaped an execution attempt in the wee hours of Sunday.
Osafo Johnson was shot to the hands and left side abdomen by four men at around 04:45 hours at Barbie Dam, East La Penitence, in the presence of his wife, Yunnyzy Medina, 26.
Police Headquarters, in a statement, noted that Johnson and his wife left the Tower Hotel on Main Street, Georgetown in a Toyota Axio motorcar, which is owned and driven by David Green, to go home. Police said Green stopped the car at Barbie Dam for the couple to walk in to get home, when two cars drove up from behind and blocked his path. The occupants of both cars exited and started to call out Johnson’s name. Police said Johnson and his wife exited the car and ran, when one of the men discharged several rounds at him, causing him to receive three gunshot wounds. Johnson was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he is said to be in a stable condition. Two 9mm spent shells and one suspected 9mm war head were recovered at the scene. Green has been detained by the police as investigations continue.
