POLICE are looking for two men who discharged a loaded firearm in South Ruimveldt, Georgetown before they realised police were in the area on motorcycle patrol. The men fled the scene dropping a Glock 17 Pistol, with four live rounds behind.
“On January 9, 2021, ranks on motorcycle patrol in South Ruimveldt, heard an explosion suspected to be gun shots. Upon investigating, they observed a silver-grey Fielder wagon motor car. They also observed a man that came out of the front passenger seat of the said car with what appeared to be a black gun in his right hand; he then pushed same into his pants crotch,” police said.
Another man, police said, came out of the motor car and, on seeing the police, the driver drove off in fast rate, while the men ran into a nearby yard.
The policemen then gave chase and the men jumped a concrete fence, making good their escape, during which the firearm was dropped.
The firearm, police said, appears to be that of a Glock 17 Pistol, along with a magazine containing four live rounds. The items were taken to the police station and lodged. They are to be examined by a ballistic expert as investigations continue.
