DEPUTY Police Commissioner – Operations (ag.), Clifton Hicken, is urging the general public to adhere to the COVID-19 emergency measures during the holiday season.
He made the plea on Sunday last when he met with residents of Grove, East Bank Demerara at the Grove Primary School.
He reminded residents to always wear a mask when going out in public and to practise social distancing. Residents were also reminded about the 22:30 hours to 04:00 hours curfew which remains in effect until December 31, 2020.

Also at the meeting were Regional Division Commander 4 (B), Senior Superintendent, Linden Isles, and chairman of the Grove Diamond Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), Indrani Geeta Ramnarine.
Regional Commander Isles, in his opening remarks, highlighted the importance of police and community partnership along with the need for the Guyana Police Force to
build bridges and improve the trust with members of the public.
Deputy Commissioner Hicken, who spoke briefly, urged residents to openly share their problems and recommendations, noting that action will be taken to address issues as they relate to the service provided by the police to the community.
Hicken also noted that partnerships with the various Neighbourhood Democratic Councils, Community Policing Groups, the Corporate Sector, Non-Governmental Organisations and religious organisations will be on stream.
Further, the Deputy Commissioner added that a WhatsApp group will be created to focus on suspicious activities and which will activate the deployment of patrols.
Hicken noted that a follow-up meeting with the residents will occur in January 2021.
