THE Berbice number two sub-division (Borlam Turn to Tarlogie) recorded no serious crimes for the month of November, according to police statistics. When contacted, Divisional Commander, Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan, said this is the first time in many years such an achievement was ever made and it was as a result of the numerous police/community engagement. He said that during November, there were more than 37 cordon and search exercises where 108 places were searched for drugs, arms, ammunition and wanted persons.
The commander noted that 34 arrests were also made and eight persons were charged with the offences of robbery under arms, receiving stolen property, break and enter and larceny (all of which occurred in the previous month) and possession of narcotics. Superintended Ramlakhan noted that he reached out to all ranks involved and personally commended them for their work in ensuring that proactive approaches are used in policing.
