THE SECOND leg of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) Time Trial Races will take place tomorrow in Linden from 09:00hrs.

The event, which is the first in the Mining Town since cycling was given the green light by COVID-19 Task Force, is scheduled to start and finish at KD&J Supermarket in Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie.

According to information from Racing Secretary of the Guyana Cycling Federation, Malcolm Sonaram, “The stage is set and all systems are in place for the second leg of the Time Trial Series.”

He said that cyclists are asked to assemble at the starting point from 08:00hrs to facilitate a timely start.

The event will have several categories, including: Open, Veterans, Junior/Juveniles and Females.

The Open and Veterans will race over 13.5 miles, which will have them climb Moblissa Hill, while the other division will race over 8.5 miles over Bamia Hill before returning to the finish line.

Two Sundays ago, Marlon Williams claimed victory in the first time trial, which was held in Georgetown. The seasoned cyclist had won the 5.07-mile race in 11:18:39, just ahead of Jamual John (11:26:04) and Briton John (11:38:70).

With the length more than double and the topography different, expect the approach in the race to vary among cyclists.

Up to yesterday afternoon over 30 cyclists, in all categories, had already registered online for the competition.

For further information of the online registration process cyclists can contact Jeffrey Yearwood on 688-2995.

The last of the time trial races is expected to take place in Berbice later this month.
