Canadian-based Guyanese artiste making her way to the big stage

Music for many is more than just about the lyrics and rhythm; it is a solace and in some cases the calm in a storm.
For 25-year-old Aneesa Badshaw, a Canadian born with Guyanese roots, music was a comforter for her during some of the toughest and uncertain times of her life.

Badshaw, who is a model, creative director and musician, told this week’s Buzz that it was her love for creating music that helped her cope with the demons of anxiety and depression.

“I can’t place when music itself started being an important part of my life – as early as I can remember; music has really helped me through my anxiety and depression… It relaxes my soul, it gives me inspiration,” she said.

The young woman disclosed that she began taking her music career seriously a few years back after she was faced with the trauma of losing two of her closest family members in a tragic accident in Guyana.

“I been taking my career seriously right at the ending of 2014 after I had gone through a traumatic situation with my dad and aunt getting into a fatal car accident at Mabura Road, Upper Demerara, Region 10, on September 14, 2014,” she told the Buzz.

The young musician disclosed that she hopes to make music one day that will do the same for others as it did for during her troubling times.

“I aspire to be someone that people could look up to. I want people to realise that once you put your mind up to something, you can have anything in this world, and putting things in the atmosphere definitely plays a big part in my life as well,” she said.

The young artiste disclosed that her talents go far beyond the art of making music since she is not one to put herself in a box and limit her talents.

“I like to create all types of genres especially when it comes to music… So far, I have been working on Dancehall, RnB, Hip-hop, EDM, and Indian music. Even when it comes to my modeling life, I was featured in all genres of music videos as well,” she said. “I don’t believe in sticking to just one thing, I feel like it’s great to be as creative as you can.”

Badshaw, like many others, is hoping to put Guyana on the big stage in the international arena.

“My greatest achievement thus far with music would be creating a buzz in the Caribbean industry, especially in Guyana. I feel like Guyana needs to be put more on the map because we have so much hidden talent; I also love where I come from and the Guyana culture,” she stated.

Additionally, the artist disclosed that she is currently working to release an album/EP by next year 2021, and to launch her clothing line/merchandise under the brand, ‘The Billionaire Mob.’
