Region 7 man dies from COVID-19

GUYANA on Sunday recorded its 145th COVID-19 death. The latest victim has been identified as a 27-year-old man from Region Seven (Cuyuni- Mazaruni).

The Ministry of Health in a statement said he died while receiving care at a medical facility. He is the 19th person to die for the month so far.
The ministry also officially announced the death of an 89-year-old man from Region Six (East Berbice – Corentyne). The Guyana Chronicle reported that the elderly man who resided in the indigenous community of Siparuta, suffered a stroke after he was swabbed for the virus in the village, but he died at the Skeldon hospital before the results came back positive on Saturday.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which are in effect until November 30, 2020. This order emphasises the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home; the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others; and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
