– to know fate on Nov. 24

SIXTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD Les Charles Critchlow, who is on trial for the 2016 murder of his brother-in-law, on Wednesday, pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
When he appeared before Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Demerara High Court for the continuation of his trial, he threw himself at the mercy of the court and opted to plead guilty to manslaughter. Six witnesses had already testified.

DEAD: Terrence Adams

The charge was re-read to him and he confessed that on May 12, 2016, at Haslington, he stabbed Terrence Adams, called “Uncle Terry” or “Sleepy”, to death during an argument.
The case is adjourned to November 24 when a probation report in favour of Critchlow will be presented before the sentence is handed down.

The accused was represented by Attorney-at-Law Max McKay, while prosecutors Tiffani Lyken and Nafeeza Baig entered an appearance on behalf of the State.
According to reports Adams, 56, of North Haslington, was found around 20:15 hours on the day in question on the roadway in the village with stab wounds about his body.
Adams had been stabbed to the left and right side chest, and his neck was partially slashed. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to reports, Adams had made a derogatory remark to Critchlow, and a subsequent altercation turned deadly.
Adams had reportedly said, “You don’t even wuk no more, and can’t maintain my sister.” Critchlow reportedly became outraged and stabbed him repeatedly.
