AN ex-policeman, on Wednesday, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs – Marcus on two firearm-related charges and was released on $140, 000 bail.
Tony Williams of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to having an unlicensed firearm and several live rounds in his possession.
He was granted $70,000 bail for each offence.
It is alleged that on Thursday at Laing Avenue, Georgetown, Williams had in his possession a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, without being the holder of a valid firearm licence at the time.
On the same date, it is also alleged that he had in his possession 15 live rounds of ammunition without being the holder of a valid ammunition licence.
The matter was adjourned to October 28 and transferred to Court 1.
