THE Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) has announced its collaboration with the Ministry of Health (Chronic Disease Unit) to commemorate Pinktober 2020.

The ministry has offered GTT sponsored radio spots to help raise cancer education and awareness. Throughout the month of October, GTT representatives, along with ministry officials, will be on HJ 94.1 and VOG 102.1, sharing critical information related to cancer awareness and education.
“As GTT has been championing, we are in this together – and together we will rise. The Ministry of Health acknowledges that cancer remains a challenge to our community and we thank all corporates who are joining with GTT to help raise awareness about the disease, with the objectives for prevention, management and support,” said Dr. Kavita Singh, Coordinator of Chronic Diseases, at the Ministry of Health.
“Early detection is key – this is just one of the various cancer-related topics we will be addressing during the month of October,” said GTT’s Pinktober Coordinator, Diana Gittens. “We are thankful to the subject Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony and the Ministry of Health for the support as we collaborate to reduce death-related cancer cases in Guyana,” Gittens added.

On October 1, 12, 19 and 28, radio listeners are invited to join discussions on HJ 94.1, while on VOG 102.1, persons can tune in to the Let’s Gaff show at 10:00am on October 5, 12, 19, and 26.

GTT particularly wishes to thank the Mental Health, Food Policy and Chronic Disease Units of the Ministry of Health for providing relevant information for dissemination and education.

Pinktober 2020 will be a virtual experience this year and patrons can anticipate Pink-centric virtual experiences, starting on October 1, inclusive of Fit and Pink, a newly added TikTok challenge, Pink Friday’s and Mental Health Day.
