House of Pearson to represent Guyana at Karib Nation’s ‘Virtual Fashion Showcase’
House of Pearson – Quinton Pearson, (Guyana)

For the past few months, COVID-19 has caused a paradigm shift in the way the world operates, leading to the cancellation of social gatherings, delayed plans, conferences, and summer travels. Guyanese-owned culture brand Karib Nation Inc. is hosting a three-part virtual fashion showcase in place of the 11th annual Caribbean Style and Culture Awards and Fashion Showcase, featuring acclaimed designers from the House of Pearson – Quinton Pearson, (Guyana), The Cloth, Robert Young, (Trinidad & Tobago), Kimya Glasgow (St. Vincent & Grenadines), Eliette Lesuperbe (Guadeloupe), Jeilyne Santana, Santana Swims, (Puerto Rico), David Andrea Collection (Haiti), Ayanna Dixon, ASD (Jamaica), Thalassa Swimwear (Trinidad & Tobago), Shakad Eco Wear (Barbados) Trefle Designs (British Virgin Islands) and Elizabeth Francis, Christique Clothing (Trinidad & Tobago).

The event will debut today, August 14, 2020, at 20:00hrs and will continue on August 21 and 28. The runway part of the show will feature models wearing creations from the designers’ private collections on tropical sceneries bringing us a taste of the Caribbean. The programme is also slated to include words from some key contributors. In addition, designers will be able to share their stories and designs with a wider global community.

The event is open to the public and is designed to support the ingenuity and contribution of the featured designers. Karib Nation in a press release stated the following: “This is a challenging time for many, including the fashion industry, with social gatherings at a halt. In times of great uncertainty, our support for one another is more important than ever. Embracing fashion as the creative expression through which to support the health and safety of our global communities, we hope this show can offer a small moment of hope, inspiration, nostalgia and uplifting connection for those who are doing their part to self-isolate. A modest contribution as our world unites to collectively weather the storm of this pandemic together.”

The event will be streamed live on Karib Nation Inc’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
