President, First Lady test negative for COVID-19

PRESIDENT David Granger and First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger have both tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The sample for the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test was taken by medical professionals on Monday.

Director of Communications of the Ministry of the Presidency, Ariana Gordon, when contacted on the results of the tests, said both the President and his wife tested negative for the disease.

President Granger, in an invited comment on Monday, had urged Guyanese to adhere to the various precautionary measures promulgated since March 2020 to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. The President urged also that all persons who develop signs and symptoms of the disease to seek urgent medical attention. The Head of State reminded that COVID-19 is a global pandemic for which there is no cure. He said fighting the pandemic requires collective and continuous action by all.

In a past report, President Granger had said, is a “pernicious” killer which has launched a vicious attack on mankind globally, regardless of race, region, religion, or economic status and Guyana has not been spared.
