Man found dead in hammock at Granny Backdam, Omai

POLICE are currently investigating the circumstances which led to the death of a 28-year-old miner at Granny Backdam, Omai, Region 7.
Dead is Alwin Daniels of South Ruimveldt Park.

The Guyana Chronicle was told that the lifeless body of Daniels was found in a hammock at a shop at Granny Backdam, on June 4, around 15:00 hours.
He was last seen alive on June 3, at around 17:00 hours.

When police visited the scene on June 5, there were no marks of violence seen on Daniels’ body.
Several persons were contacted and interviewed and information received by the police was that Alwin Daniels was a known ‘drug pusher’ in the area and also had underlying health issues.

Daniels’ body is currently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem which is expected to be conducted today, (Monday, June 8).
