Re-elected President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer

THE Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Council of the Chamber has re-elected Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer as its president for the period of 2020/2021.

The decision was made on Tuesday during the Chamber’s 130th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held virtually.

Boyer was first elected president in 2019. Boyer, of National Hardware Guyana Ltd, in his message to the chamber said that despite the challenging environment confronting Guyana, the GCCI continues to improve and evolve. He disclosed that the GCCI now has over 340 members, making it the largest business-support organisation in Guyana.

Boyer stated that the GCCI’s net surplus was G$7.7million in 2019, an improvement on the previous year’s surplus of G$6.6 million. Meanwhile, cash and cash equivalent have improved from G$30.4 million in 2018 to G$44.2 million in 2019.

Boyer will now continue to head the chamber’s Executive Management Committee (EMC) which consists of six members.

Others include Timothy Tucker of Rid-O-Pes, who has been re-elected senior vice-president; Junior Vice-president Anije Lambert of Project Development Consultancy; Treasurer Kester Hutson of Kester Hutson; Secretary Shaleeza Shaw of Demerara Bank Limited and Immediate Past President Deodat Indar of Sterling Products Ltd.

“The membership and secretariat of the GCCI would like to congratulate the councillors and the executives and look forward to their stewardship of the GCCI in these challenging times,” a release from the GCCI stated.

Meanwhile, the chamber also elected its 21-member council which includes the above six along with Gerald Gouveia Jr. of Roraima Airways; Dr. Roshan Khan of Social Rank Media; Komal Ramnauth of Kojac Marketing Agency; Javed Khan of Republic Bank Guyana Limited; Keon Howard of Winedaysgy; Marisca Jordan of RAMPS Logistics Guyana Inc.; Briony Tiwarie of BK Supermix Inc.; Shaam Outar of A&S Enterprise; Anita Ramprasad of MACORP; Navin Prashad of M.P. Insurance Brokers & Consultants; Dr. Vishnu Doerga of ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc.; Derek Stoby of Muneshwer’s Limited; Gavin Ramsoondar of JR Ranch Inc.; Khemraj Goberdhan of Diamond Fire & General Insurance Inc. and Samuel Arjoon of Guyana Beverages Inc.
