CMC – Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr produced only a single winner at Gulfstream Park here Saturday but it was enough for him to pull level with Todd Pletcher at the top of the standings.
The Barbadian, who trailed by as much as four wins last week, sent out 3-1 choice Yodel E A Who, who collared the four-year-old and upwards by 5-½ lengths in a 6-½ furlong contest in a time of one minute, 16:30 seconds.
Joseph and Pletcher are now tied on 21 wins in the season which got underway April 2 and wraps September 27.
Michael Maker lies third on 15 wins with Antonio Sano one back in fourth.
The four-horse field sprinted from the gates to line up across the track before Victor Lebron put Yodel E A Who’s head in front down along the rails, to reach the quarter mile in 22.62 seconds.
Favourite Win With Pride, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr and conditioned by Pletcher, raced three-quarters of a length behind while Cajun Firecracker and Small Fortune remained in contention.
Approaching the final turn, Win With Pride attacked the leader but Lebron opened up the four-year-old bay gelding at the top of the stretch and he pulled away impressively from the field to reach the wire strongly.
Win With Pride trailed in second while Cajun Firecracker finished third.
