PASSENGERS utilising the speed boat services from Region Two, Supenaam to Parika and vice versa, can feel safe and comfortable while travelling since the Parika/Supenaam Speedboat Association has taken the necessary precautionary measures against the pandemic spread of the coronavirus/COVID 19.

This was according to the chairman of the association, Otis Roberts. Roberts said that the safety of passengers is important, and as such, members wrote MARAD to have a reduction in the number of passengers for the seat.

He said only three passengers are allowed to a seat in the vessels. The fare remains at $1300 but passengers could voluntarily contribute an additional $200 as a good gesture in the fight against the coronavirus.

Roberts said the entire Supenaam Waterfront and rails were fumigated with the necessary disinfectants. Life jackets are also sanitised regularly.

He said the monitor or the head in charge of the days’ operation usually has sanitising products at his desk. Passenger entering the vessels can utilise same.

“Safety of passengers is important, each operator has to ensure his boat is properly cleaned and sanitise before he begins his journey,” Roberts said.

The chairman is therefore calling on passengers to have confidence in the system and the association and to feel safe when choosing the service.
