Kitty Market vendor accused of robbery remanded

A 26-year-old Pike Street, Kitty resident, accused of robbery, was, on Monday, February 17, 2020, remanded to prison by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs – Marcus.

Rawland Marshall appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge, when it was read to him.

Particulars of the charge stated that, on February 10, 2020, at Kitty, Georgetown, while in the company of a group, Marshall robbed Masecino Hartman, 20, of an iPhone valued at $170,000, a hat valued at $5,000, an iPhone charger valued at $5,000 and $40 in cash, totaling $180,040, with the use of personal violence.
According to reports, Marshall and Hartman are known to each other, since they played football together.

It is alleged that, on the day in question, Marshall was walking with a group of friends along the Kitty seawall in the vicinity of Glow Hotel, when he saw Hartman.
While the group was passing Hartman, Marshall attacked him and threw him onto the ground. While Hartman was unconscious, the defendant relieved him of the articles mentioned in the charge and made good his escape.

In court, Marshall strongly denied being on the Seawall and told the court that he was at his Stall since he was a vendor at the Kitty Market, where he works to maintain his three kids.

The Magistrate, nevertheless remanded Marshall to prison until March 4, 2020
