Miner chopped about body at Cuyuni River

–while washing clothes

A 50-year-old gold miner of lot ‘B’ Field Sophia was chopped about the body after an argument with his attacker at the bank of the Cuyuni River, Region Seven, on Sunday.
The miner was identified as Mark Wilson.

Reports indicate that Wilson was washing clothes at the bank of the Cuyuni River, when he and his attacker had an argument.

His attacker then withdrew a sharp instrument and dealt Wilson several chops. He (Wilson) blocked with his forearm, resulting in several severe wounds to both arms.
The victim was assisted by persons in the area and accompanied to the Aurora Mining Company’s Medical center where he was seen and examined by a doctor.
He was subsequently escorted by police to a private aircraft that shuttled him to region four, where he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further medical attention. He was admitted.

He is listed as being in a stable condition. Police are ‘hunting’ for the suspect as investigations continue.
