Security guard who discharged firearm granted bail

A 30-year-old security guard attached to Hostel El Sol was, on Friday, November 1, 2019, arraigned before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly.
Anthony Grannum appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the charge which stated that, on October 27, 2019, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, he discharged a firearm, a 12-gauge shotgun.

According to the statements presented by Police Prosecutor Christopher Morris, on the day in question, Grannum was on duty at the El Sol hotel armed with a 12 gauge shot gun along with 15 cartridges.

He was seated on the third floor of the hotel with the firearm pointing downwards (to the floor), when he squeezed the trigger and a round was discharged to the ground, ricocheted and hit a female to her right eye and right knee.

The woman was taken to the hospital and Grannum was arrested.
Police Prosecutor Morris made no objection to bail being granted under the conditions that Grannum lodges his passport at the court and reports every Monday to the Alberttown Police Station, until the completion of his trial.

Magistrate Daly released the man on $100,000 bail and adjourned the matter until November 29, 2019.
