NEW champions will be crowned in the 2019 edition of the COURTS Pee Wee Football tournament after defending champions St Pius were booted from the competition yesterday.
The team lost on penalties to Tucville when quarterfinals of the tournament were held at Ministry of Education ground.
Joshua Austin opened the scoring for Tucville in the 16th minute before Bryan Brown brought the score level in the 20th.
St Pius took the lead through Jamal Fraser in the 34th minute before Wayne Solomon brought things level again in the 36th.
In the end, Tucville prevailed 3-2 on penalties.
St Agnes also progressed to the semi-final with a 1-0 win over West Ruimveldt thanks to Shane Dalrymple in the 4th minute.
Genesis were the first team to make it to the semi-finals after their 2-0 win over Timehri. Ricardo Hazel (44th) and Anfernee Cummings (50th) were the scorers as the match went into extra time.
North Georgetown also required penalties to overcome Soesdyke via a 3-1 margin after Soesdyke’s Jermaine Mitchel scored in the 30th minute. An own goal was scored in the 39th minute.
In the 9-16 playoffs, Mae’s won 3-2 on penalties over St Stephen’s with the winners’ Elijah Bynoe scoring in the 24th before Shawn Serrette (27th) levelled things out.
St Ambrose were big winners over Craig via a 4-1 margin thanks to a brace from Keandre Carr (4th and 34th) and single strikes from Trimain Bishop (5th) and Obiediah Munroe (25th) while Michael Corriea (17th) scored for the losers.
Marian Academy won via walkover from Uitvlugt while Nickolas Watts five goals (3rd 12th, 14th, 17th and 29th) helped Redeemer past Enterprise 5-0.
