STAR cyclist Jamual John will be seeking to retain his title, come today, when an ounce of ‘raw gold’ will be on the line for the 8th Annual Kadir Mohamed Memorial Road Race which pedals off from 07:00hrs, outside the National Sports Commission, Homestretch Avenue.
With roughly $1M in spoils up for grabs, John and his competitors will pedal to Dora on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway before returning to finish at their starting checkpoint.
Youngsters, cyclists over 45 years of age, as well as the mountain-bikers will turn back at Yarrowkabra, also on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway. The overall winner will receive one ounce of raw gold, the second- to eighth-place finishers will be rewarded with cash prizes.
The top four finishers in the junior category, the top three in both the veterans’ under- and over-45 years of age and the top three mountain-bikers will also be given awards.
Meanwhile, the annual race is organised by Flying Stars Cycle Club and sponsored by the Mohamed family of Bartica.
