A 39-year-man charged for sexual assault was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that Jessy Boyal of Waramuri Village, Barima Waini, raped a 14-year-old girl, between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, at Waramuri Village, Barima Waini.
Boyal was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
According to reports, the child was left in the care of Boyal, and it was while the two were alone that he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her.
The child later told her mother what had happened and the matter was reported. An investigation was launched and Boyal was arrested and charged for the crime.
Magistrate McGusty remanded Boyal and adjourned the matter until October 7, 2019.
