President David Granger on Tuesday received a courtesy call from delegates of the Miss Indigenous Heritage 2019 pageant at the Ministry of the Presidency.
Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Vice President and Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs; Mr. Sydney Allicock; Minister of State, Mrs. Dawn Hastings-Williams and Minister of Social Cohesion, Dr. George Norton were among the Government ministers present during the courtesy call.
The delegates are:
*Ms. Esther Marlowe of Santa Cruz, Barima-Waini (Region One),
*Ms.Shauna Fredericks of St. Deny’s Mission, Tapakuma Lake, Pomeroon-Supenaam (Region Two),
*Ms. Natalia Patterson of Santa Mission, Essequibo Islands-West Demerara (Region Three),
*Ms. AnnMera Simon of St. Cuthbert’s Mission, Demerara-Mahaica (Region Four),
*Ms. Rosetta Fredericks of Moraikobai Village, Mahaica- Berbice (Region Five),
*Ms. Varshnie Herman of Orealla, East Berbice-Corentyne (Region Six),
*Ms. Jeline DaSilva of Karrau Creek, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven),
*Ms. Katie Williams of Tuseneng, Potaro-Siparuni (Region Eight),
*Ms. Luana Allicock of Surama Village, Upper Takutu – Upper Essequibo (Region Nine)
*Ms. Shevon Williams of Great Falls, Upper Demerara-Berbice (Region Ten).

The delegates also met separately with Prime Minister Nagamootoo and his wife Mrs Sita Nagamootoo, on Monday at their official residence on Main Street, Georgetown. Prime Minister encouraged the delegates to continue to showcase their unique culture and also reflected on the history of our fist people. The delegates explained that this is the year of Indigenous Languages, their platforms surround them showcasing their languages. Mrs Sita Nagamootoo also gave some pointers to the delegates on pageantry etiquette. The delegates were presented with tokens from both Prime Minister and Mrs Nagamootoo.
