OVER 2,000 senior citizens, children and adults benefitted from Gafsons Industries Limited feeding programme hosted last Sunday at the company’s Houston Complex, East Bank Demerara.

The event was hosted in the aftermath of Ramadan since the company was unable to do such during the observance which commenced on 5 May, 2019 and continued for 30 days.
Executive Chairman, Abdool Sattaur Gafoor, whose left foot was fractured also participated in the feeding programme while being pushed in a wheelchair.
His wife Ameena, was also actively involved in the distribution of food and hampers to their guests.

The children and the elderly came from various orphanages and homes, as well as from neighbouring communities. The recipients were given two hot meals, and refreshments, among other items.

During Ramadan many Muslims recite the Quran, while others donate money to charity, which is used to help feed the needy. One of the main goals is to abstain from food and drink which will help them to understand the situation of the less fortunate.
Gafoors has been giving back to the needy for over two decades and would host such events multiple times annually.
