CHIEF-OF-STAFF, Brigadier Patrick West, has challenged warrant officers and senior non-commissioned officers to be ready for the future of the army and Guyana as the force continues its “Transformation for Total National Defence”.
He was at the time delivering the feature address on Wednesday at the warrant officers and senior non-commissioned officers’ conference at Base Camp Ayanganna.

Brigadier West highlighted some of the transformative occurrences happening in the force, from the recapitalisation of units such as the Air Corps and Engineer Corps, the expanded role of four Engineer Battalion, the expansion of services offered by the GDF Co-op Credit Union, to the expanding of opportunities for warrant officers and senior non-commissioned officers to pursue academic programmes at the University of Guyana.
He emphasised the need for the conference participants to remember their role within the GDF and to continue working to ensure the success of all GDF missions.
The two-day conference, which is being held under the theme “Transformation for Total National Defence”, will see the participants discussing a number of issues relating to their collective and unit responsibilities, with a view to seeking solutions to various challenges.
The conference concludes today.
