THE Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission (CCAC) is working with other agencies to develop a “Homebuilders Roadmap.”
According to the CCAC’s 2018 annual report, the aim of the roadmap is to create a detailed outline of steps, processes and methods of constructing or renovating a home.
CCAC also intends to ensure that consumers are aware of the correct legal procedures of the construction process and ensure that consumers are able to identify qualified contractors.
“We want to provide the ease of access to information of the relevant authorities, their requirements and documentation for every step in the construction process,” said the commission.
The agency began its initial consultation to aid in the development of the “Homebuilders’ Roadmap” with the hosting of a seminar. Relevant stakeholders presented their roles in the process of homebuilding and the necessary procedures for homebuilders.
According to the commission, consultations will continue with the various stakeholders in the construction industry to combine all the information presented by the relevant authorities involved in the construction process into the roadmap and to provide easy access for all consumers via the CCAC’s website and hard copies.
