THE Guyana Chronicle wishes to correct the headline ‘No contract since we married’ which appeared in our Saturday, April 13, 2019 edition.

The headline centred on an interview with Minister within the Ministry of Communities with responsibility for Housing, Valerie Yearwood.

Following the interview with one of our reporters, it was erroneously reported that Minister Yearwood said contracts were awarded to her husband, Godfrey Yearwood, through his business firm, Yearwood Contractors and Consultancy Services, after they were married. The contracts were for the construction of housing units. It is important to note that Minister Yearwood, during that interview, disclosed that after they were married in 2017, she asked her husband not to bid on any more contracts under the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA). His last contract for the construction of two-flat units is expected to end soon, as the houses are near completion.
