WAYNE DeAbreu represented Guyana at the World Archery Ranking Tournament, in Santiago City, Chile, which also served as a second stage of qualifier for Pan-American Games, Lima 2019. However, according to Archery Guyana, unfortunately DeAbreu did not qualify.
At 72 Arrows Ranking Round, the Guyanese Archer secured position numbered 32 after shooting a score of 594.
On Wednesday April 3, DeAbreu was up against Bolivia in the Eliminations but lost in the first round 7-1. The following day the Pan Am Eliminations continued and DeAbreu excited fans as he won against Barbados archer Brandon Field in the first round 6-0.
The Guyanese then went on to compete against Ecuador’s Lester Ortegon Morales where he lost by a score of 0-6.
In a release, Archery Guyana stated “Guyana did not qualify to move forward to the Lima, Peru Games but the reports out of Chile revealed that in spite of this being Guyana’s first participation at an international tournament, DeAbreu was competitive, and that it is certainly a promising start-up for Guyana’s Archery.”
