COPA passengers arrive safely

ALL passengers and crew on board a COPA Airlines flight arrived safely at their destination in Panama following a bomb scare which hampered the flight’s departure from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on Monday afternoon.

According to a release from the airline, all 127 passengers and 6 crew members on board Flight 255 made it safely to their destination in Panama following a false report of an explosive device aboard the aircraft on Monday afternoon prior to departure from the CJIA.
The airline said that following the alarm, which was raised just prior to the scheduled 14:24 hrs departure time, the carrier immediately activated security protocols. Passengers and crew disembarked to allow for inspection and ranks of the Guyana Police Force bomb-disposal unit launched a search of the aircraft. After confirming that no explosive device was found, the alarm was determined to be false. COPA said that the carrier worked closely with local security officials during the inspection process. Flight 255 subsequently departed at 17:42 hrs and arrived at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City at 20:44 hrs local time.
